Homeowners Encouraged to Run for HOA Board
Posted on Apr 6th, 2017

Message to homeowners from Communications Committee:

You can make a difference in our neighborhood by running for the Board of Directors at the Annual Meeting on Monday, April 17, 6:30 p.m. at Lake Wylie Lutheran Church.  (Sign-in begins at 6:00 p.m.)  The Board makes many decisions that impact our community.  Two long-serving members of the Board are leaving our neighborhood, and new faces would be welcomed to serve on the Board.

Should you be elected to the Board, you would be appointed by fellow Board members to serve as one of the following officers:

President – Presides at all meetings of members and board of directors; sees that orders and resolutions of board of directors are carried out; responsible for signing documents such as leases, mortgages and deeds.

Vice President –Acts in place and stead of President in event of his or her absence.

Secretary –Records votes, keeps minutes of all meetings and proceedings of board of directors and of the members; serves notice of meetings of board of directors and members; keeps appropriate current records of members and their addresses.

Treasurer –Manages monies of association; keeps proper books of account; prepares annual budget and a statement of income and expenditures to be presented to the Membership at its regular annual meeting.

Now that you have an idea of what a Board member does, and you are interested in running for the Board, you can submit your name in one of two ways:  1.  Show up at the Annual Meeting to add your name to the candidates’ list and introduce yourself to the homeowners or 2.  Contact the Board via the Waterstone website at http://www.waterstonehoa.org/contact.php or email them at board@waterstonehoa.com to give them your name, should you not be able to attend the Annual Meeting.  That’s it.  No campaign funds are needed, and no campaigning is required.   Think about taking advantage of this opportunity to make a difference in our neighborhood.
